I arrived back home today and was given a Poem to read that a member at church has written for my parents. She has included different things from mine and Rachel's childhood and I wanted to share it with y'all. So here it is:
Could you have imagined
When you saw that she swathed her brother's
Head in Vaseline
That she would grow up to swathe young mothers
And their children in love?
Could you have imagined
When your heart pounded
At his three-point shot at the buzzer
That he would grow up to
Show others how their hearts
Can beat with the love of Christ?
You modeled for them how to
Be the Body of Christ
In ways that weren't always
Commonplace and comfortable
You brought a needy child
Into your home
And loved her when the world
Was against her
Security in an insecure world
Hope amid dispair
Now the will be the body of Christ
In places that are extraordinary
With missions that are on edge
Just as their parents before them
Providing a real sense of
Security in an insecure world
Giving lasting hope amid despair
Could you have imagined
That they would give so much of themselves?
Of course you could
Rachel and Elliott
Embodiment of
Greg and Brenda
Embodiment of
Christ
